After the earlier postponements of Belle of African Nations,BOAN, due to the 2015 General Elections,Platinum Entertainment Nigeria says preparations are heating up towards the hosting of the Pan-African pageant. Tagged “Heroine In the Midst of Heroes”,the maiden edition of BOAN would be celebrating the uniqueness and heroism of Madame Efunroye Tinubu, a woman who soared and dominated territories that were mainly reserved for men.
In recognition of her bravery,the play “Madame Tinubu” by Prof. Akinwunmi Isola is billed to be staged, as the facilitators of BOAN unveil the different sides of a woman likened to the Gelede masquerade. “Aside from celebrating Madame Tinubu,we would also be honouring African heroines who were or are makers and shakers of their worlds -presenting them with the “Heroine in the midst of Heroes” awards”,
Olayinka Edu,MD/CEO, Platinum Entertainment, Nigeria explained. Stressing the importance of generational legacies,the organisers of BOAN are also celebrating a scion of the Tinubu dynasty, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in recognition of his bravery, doggedness and passionate leadership. Asiwaju,in whom,the heroine,Madam Efunroye Tinubu is exemplified, would be presented with the Exceptional Distinction Award – E pluribus Unum (one amongst many).
“We also learnt that the glamorous Gold and Diamond,Madame Tinubu symbol Crown as designed and made by the Nigerian-UK based world renowned jeweler – Alexander Amosu, besides the glamour of the epoch-making event, the exhibitions, the play, the artistic cultural and historical displays and the home-coming visits,”they disclosed.
Relatedly,the cross-cultural and historical event will feature rich and robust inter-cultural exchange,beauty, bravery and intelligence as exceptionally innovative queens from across the continent of Africa hit the shores of Lagos,Nigeria for the pageant.
“More so, BOAN is poised to rewrite history – taking us back to where the future was. From Lagos, Nigeria, we are projecting something uniquely different from the continent of Africa to the entire world in the history of pageantry. This edition of BOAN retells the story of a legendary female figure in Nigerian past who stood her ground and made her voice heard at a time when patriarchy reigned supreme.

BOAN will blow minds away, capture hearts and refresh souls. You wouldn’t want to be told,”she added.
