Robbers raid Kogi bank, kill two policemen, others

Suspected armed robbers stormed a new generation bank in Ogaminana, in the Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, killing four persons at about 10am on Wednesday.
A witness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the bandits killed two policemen, two members of staff of the bank and carted away about N25m said to be the salaries of the workers of the local government area.
“The hoodlums shot sporadically to scare people away as they took off from the bank,” the source added.
The indiscriminate shooting by the fleeing robbers was said to have created a pandemonium in the area as passersby, street hawkers and other residents ran in different directions to escape being caught in the gunfire of the invaders.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Williams Aya, confirmed the incident, saying no arrest had been made.
Aya said the police had commenced investigation into the incident, adding that the command would ensure that the perpetrators were brought to book.
